Ways to keep track of YouTube videos, compared
| Playlists and Watch later, in YouTube | Browser bookmarks | A notes app or a spreadsheet | Krater | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free | Free | Free or what you already pay | Free, with ads in the iPhone app; Pro and Hacker remove the ads and give Krappy more |
| Where | Anywhere you're signed in to YouTube | The browsers you sync | Wherever the app is | iPhone and any browser; no Android app yet |
| Adding a video | One tap | One click on a computer | Copy and paste | Share from the YouTube app, or paste a link |
| Your opinion | Like or dislike | None | Whatever you write | Stars and reviews, for everyone or just for you |
| Finding it later | By title, or by playlist | By title | By anything you wrote | By title, list, or asking Krappy what it was about |
| Sharing | Unlisted or public playlists | Not really | Share the file | Public reviews and lists, if you choose |
| Catch | No scores or notes; a removed video can't be played from them | No thumbnails, easy to lose | All by hand | You add every video yourself; it can't read your YouTube account |
If you mostly want a queue, Watch later is enough. If you collect videos around topics, playlists do it well and play in a row. If you want a record of what you thought, a notes app or a spreadsheet works for a few dozen videos and gets tedious after that; that's the gap Krater is for.
