Krater Support

Krater is an iPhone app for the YouTube videos you watch: keep them in a library, rate and review them, make lists, follow other members, and ask Krappy, Krater's assistant, to find a video you half remember. Videos play on YouTube. Krater isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by YouTube or Google.

Adding videos from YouTube

From the YouTube app: tap Share under a video, or ⋯ beside a video in a list and then Share, and pick Krater. If Krater isn't in the row of apps, swipe to the end, tap More and pick it there. Krater opens with the video added.
With a link: in Krater, go to Browse, tap + beside the search field, choose Paste a link and paste the link. Watch links, youtu.be links, Shorts, live and embed links all work.
A video that is private, removed or no longer on YouTube can't be added.

The Krappy battery

Krappy runs on a battery. Each question he answers uses one charge, and the battery refills by itself over time. Pro and Hacker hold more charges and refill faster; the plans screen in the app shows how much each plan gives.

Some things never use a charge: saying hello, picking one of the videos he has just shown you, confirming the video you meant ("it's this one"), the first three times you tell him "not that one" about a question, the first time you tell him "not these" about a set of recommendations, and asking a question he has just answered again. If he finds nothing, the charge is given back.

Cancelling a subscription

Pro and Hacker are sold by Apple, so you cancel them with Apple: on your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose Krater and Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge. You keep your plan until the end of the period you've paid for.

Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Deleting your Krater account doesn't cancel an Apple subscription.

Deleting your account

In Krater, open Profile, tap the gear at the top right, and choose Delete account at the bottom of Settings, then type your username to confirm. Your account, profile, library, lists, follows, likes and notifications are removed straight away; the Privacy Policy explains the little that is kept, and for how long. If you have a subscription, cancel it with Apple first.

Reporting content

Open the review, list, profile or video, tap Report and choose a reason. A person looks at every report, and nothing is removed automatically. The item disappears for you straight away, and you'll be told whether it was kept or hidden. You can also block a member from their profile.

Without an account, write to support@joinkrater.com with a link or the username, why you think it breaks the law or our rules, and your name.

Who can use Krater

Krater is for people 18 or older, as a member or as a guest. You confirm it when you sign up or continue as a guest; we never ask for your date of birth.
